What should I do when I move?

You can update your address and phone number online by clicking on My Account and going into the profile section. Please note that we cannot accept addresses outside of Canada, Post Office Box, General Delivery or Canadian Forces Base addresses. What should I do when I have moved to a new province?

Financed Vehicles

If you're moving to a new province, you will need to register your vehicle at the vehicle licensing bureau in the new province. You will not require an authorization from Volkswagen Finance to do this.

Leased Vehicles

If your vehicle is leased, you will require an authorization from Volkswagen Finance to register your vehicle in the new province. Please contact a Customer Care Representative at 1 (800) 668-8224, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. (Eastern Time).

Can I pay my bill online?

Yes. If you bank with any of these financial institutions, BMO Bank of Montreal, CIBC, Credit Union, Desjardins, Laurentian Bank, National Bank, President’s Choice, RBC, Scotiabank, Tangerine, or TD Canada Trust, you may make payments through Internet Banking.

First you will need to establish Volkswagen Finance as a new payee (like you have done with your phone or hydro company). Select VW CREDIT CANADA, INC. and enter your Volkswagen Finance account number. For assistance in obtaining your account number, please contact a Customer Care Representative at 1 (800) 668-8224, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. (Eastern Time)

If you are banking through another financial institution, we suggest that you contact them to see if VW Credit Canada, Inc. has been established as an eligible payee.

How do I make payments by mail?

Can I bring my financed or leased vehicle to the United States?

Occasional travel to the United States with your financed or leased vehicle is permitted, provided your principal address remains in Canada and the vehicle is not removed from Canada for more than 30 consecutive days. If you are planning a trip to the United States with your leased or financed vehicle, that will last longer than 30 days, please contact a Customer Care Representative at 1 (800) 668-8224, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Can I request Payout Quotes?

You can request a payout quote online by visiting My Account and going to the Payout Quote page.

Please note that all payout quotes are valid for 10 days and the amount includes all payments made as of the date of the quote. Therefore, all payments previously made must be honoured by the bank, for the amount to be valid.

Payments that are scheduled between the date that the payout quote was obtained and the last date that the payout is valid are not included in your payout quote amount. If you are planning on paying out your account and your next payment date falls during the 10 day effective period of the quote, please contact us.

Please note that we require 5 business days in order to cancel a pre-authorized payment.

If you are selling the vehicle or require an immediate lien release, we recommend sending a certified cheque, bank draft or money order. If you payout your loan by personal cheque, please note that a lien release letter will automatically be sent to your mailing address within 60 days. Please ensure that your address is correct or update your address in My Account and visiting the Profile section.

Please make your cheque payable to Volkswagen Finance. Your payout cheque can be sent to the following address, along with the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Account number:

Lease Accounts

For payout information on your leased vehicle, please contact your original, delivering Volkswagen dealership.

What do I do if I am in an accident or my car is a total loss?

Finance
  1. Contact your insurance company.
  2. If the insurance company deems the damage as repairable, please maintain your account in good standing while you work with your insurance company to have the damage repaired.
  3. If the insurance company deems the vehicle a total loss, please ensure that you continue to maintain your account in good standing. You may obtain the payout of your account by visiting My Account and going to the Payout Quote page. You may also obtain a payout amount by contacting a Customer Care Representative at 1 (800) 668-8224, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. (Eastern Time) Once you have received the settlement from the insurance company, please endorse the back (if it is payable to you and VW Credit Canada, Inc.) and mail the cheque along with your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Account Number to:

Lease

How do I update the name listed on My Account?

If your legal name has changed, simply send us a signed letter requesting we update your account along with supporting legal documentation for the change (e.g. Marriage Certificate, Legal Name Change form). Please include your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) or Account number, your corrected name and your signature in the letter you send to us. If your name change is as a result of marriage, please indicate what your new name will be.

What are the minimum insurance requirements for Volkswagen Finance?

  • A minimum of $1 Million public liability insurance for bodily injury or death
  • A minimum of $1 Million property damage liability
  • Comprehensive perils insurance, including fire and theft for the vehicle’s actual value with a maximum deductible of $1000 for a vehicle with a selling price of less than $50,000 or $2500 for a vehicle with a selling price of more than $50,000.
  • Collision insurance for the vehicle’s actual value with a maximum deductible of $1000 for a vehicle with a selling price of less than $50,000 or $2500 for a vehicle with a selling price of more than $50,000.

Your insurance company should list the "loss payee" and "additional insured" for leases and “loss payee” for finance transactions:
